The Beach Bathroom

I’ve decided to turn my bathroom into a beach. Sounds crazy, right? Well, I’m going to do it anyway. There’s enough space to make it all look nice. The water part is already fixed, since I have a bathtub and a shower, both of which spurt water. Next, I would love to get some sand and some sort of decoration to make it look like the sky, or maybe even some sea creatures. I’m going to buy some little houseplants that look like palm trees and position them around the bathroom.

First up, though, is an ocean wallpaper from my local wallpaper and interior decoration shop, which should create a different ambience within the room. I’m hoping I can get one that reflects light a little bit, since then it’ll look like those sparkling specks of light that the ocean is so well known for. Instead of bath towels, I’m going to be using beach towels. They’re going to be red and white and they’re going to be stripy. If I’m feeling adventurous, I might even get ones with blue and white stripes just to shake things up.

Instead of the fluorescent white light overheads that most bathrooms usually have, I’m going to hire an electrician to install a special warm yellow light as a way to simulate the sun. Then, finally, I’m going to hang up some prepasted flower wall decals, which are these temporary decorations that can totally transform the appearance of a room. I’m hoping to buy some in the shape of ocean flowers and plants, such as coral and those weird anemone things. I’m not sure if anemone counts as plants, but I guess it doesn’t really matter. All I know is that next time I have a guest over, they’re going to get the shock of their life! My bathroom is going to be so authentically beachy that as soon as they step inside it it’s like they’ve been transported to the surf itself.
