The Appointment Phenomenon

Have you guys heard of and/or experienced the phenomenon where you finally book something in to be fixed or looked at and once you do it’s completely fine again? Stuff like this has always happened to me my whole life. For example, I’d have a toothache for weeks and finally decide to get the dentist to check it out, only for the toothache to disappear the morning of the appointment. It was the same for the doctor. If I had a cold I’d miraculously be better in time for the appointment. Does this sort of thing just happen to me?

My most recent example of this bizarre phenomenon was yesterday. As anyone living in Canberra would know, there has been a really intense cold snap over the city for about three weeks now. It shouldn’t have been anywhere near as cold as it was and because I had spent the last few weeks freezing, I decided to book in an urgent ducted heating service. Canberra being that cold at this time of year shocked me and I needed to do something about it quickly or I’d be cold for the rest of the year.

After all that, of course when I woke up this morning the cold snap had subsided and it was a sunny twenty-seven degrees outside. I couldn’t believe it. I should have known that this was going to happen as soon as I booked the heating repairs. Canberra weather is never predictable but I thought that the crazy cold snap was here to stay.

Anyway, I’ve decided to keep the heating repairs appointment anyway. Winter is only a few months away so it wouldn’t hurt to be prepared. At least this way I don’t need to battle the masses of unprepared people to make sure that my heater is in working order when winter comes. I guess that’s the silver lining to all this. Anyway, let me know if you’ve experienced something similar!
